50 years banner

The Timken, distinct for being the only free art museum in Balboa Park, has brought in Vermeer’s “Women in Blue Reading a Letter and will be showcased from May 14 – September 11.

A small but very nice collection the exhibit also includes, American, Russian, Dutch, French and Italian artwork spanning over 600 years of history. It’s a beautiful collection, docent tours are available that last just under 30 minutes – free of charge. Suitable for all ages. You’ll learn about the history of the museum’s founders and the Putnam Foundation Collection. The Timken is the only museum that features artwork [in San Diego] by the famous Dutch artist Rembrandt Harmensz van Rijn.

It’s definitely worth an hour or two of your time if you’re visiting the San Diego area – in Balboa Park.
